Onions have been a reliable source of nutrition since they were first discovered; the ancient Egyptians believed its circular shape was reminiscent of eternal life. While Greek athletes ate copious amounts of the vegetable believing it would lighten the balance of blood and enhance their performance. The vegetable was first brought to our shores by Christopher Columbus on his 1492 expedition to the Americas.

Here at Greengrocer, we import our onions from around the world, changing locations based on season—to ensure that we always get the highest quality onion. We’ve previously imported onions from all around the Western United States, Mexico, Chile, Peru, and Argentina.

The onion has only 63 calories, contains more than a cup of water, and provides up to 20% of your recommended daily intake of Vitamin C.

If our onions are unavailable at your local supermarket, please contact us and we will try our best to ensure they’re available wherever you shop.

Onions are a good source of dietary fiber, vitamin B6, folate, potassium and manganese, and a very good source of vitamin C.
