During the month of May, Gallery 111 unveils their latest exhibition Alchemy. Brought together due to their powerful use of organic line, attention to space, and consideration of the female form, the works of Lois Green, Frith Bail and DoriAnne Ross also share their passion for materials and process. Alchemy can be defined as the creation of any object that requires the maker to transform basic materials into something new and more valuable. However, it is the mysticism or magical elements of the work that make it truly alchemy when referring to times of Antiquity. Today, considered more of a science, magic can still exist when an artist’s work is more about expression than production and moves the audience to wonder about it’s stages of fruition, form, and function. This leaves the relationship between artist and their work in a shadow of mystery, still to be discovered. Whether in the round, on the wall or around your neck, this collection of work will leave you with a soulful connection to the artists and their work.
