AQUATEL V SMART MOISTURE SENSOR
Online moisture measurement of pulp and paperboard

The Aquatel V smart moisture sensor is a microwave-based gauge operating in the transmission mode.

Microwave radiation from the source head goes through the moving web and into the detector head, where the amount of energy received is a function of the water content in the sheet. The measurement algorithm works with the signal detected, reference from internal standards and temperature compensation to obtain water weight values in engineering units. Both heads are tuned for the basis weight range of the machine to provide the best accuracy for the application. The sensor heads are supported by dedicated microcontrollers that receive commands, perform measurement functions, sensor standardization and data transmission. Moisture profiles are transferred to the network using industry standard communication protocols.

Vortex™ cooling and air knives are installed in applications where hostile conditions prevail. Moisture measurement repeatability is ensured with automatic standardization of the sensor.
