The Chief Building Official (CBO) administers the statutary duties prescribed in the Building Code Act. This is accomplished by working closely with both home owners and builders to ensure that the requirements of the Ontario Building Code (OBC) are being met in the community.

In addition to these duties the CBO administers the Property Standards By-law and certain aspects of the Zoning By-law. This department also enforces the Municipality's Property Standards By-Law 2006-1011 addressing matters such as junk vehicles and substandard housing.

Permits - Building Services/Services - Callander

The process associated with acquiring a permit requires the comparison of the plans and details of projects against the requirements of the Ontario Building Code and pertinent laws, completed by an independent party from the Building Department. A permit must be acquired prior to the commencement of any work and must be displayed in a conspicuous place until the job is completed and approved by the Chief Building Official.
