Homicide Survivor Support

The Homicide Survivor Support Group is the first support group specific to homicide in Peel Region. The group was created due to the growing need to provide support to survivors of homicide within their community. Victim Services of Peel has created a group setting where individuals gather to explore their feelings and share insight and experiences. Although everyone’s grief is unique, this group allows individuals to connect with others who share commonalities.

The counsellors are fully qualified in the area of bereavement and trauma and provide education, support and guidance in a realistic and professional manner. Sessions begin with an introduction from the facilitating counsellor and lead into a specific topic for group discussion. There are two groups available to assist in meeting the unique needs of group participants. The first group runs twice a year and meets one evening a week for eight weeks. The second group runs year-round and meets once per month. Individuals interested in attending are welcome to participate in one or both groups. All are welcome as the group is open to residents of Peel and surrounding regions.
