Storm doors are more popular than ever right now due to the rising cost of energy. Consumers can save on their heating and cooling costs by using a storm door. Storm doors save on heating costs by providing a barrier against wind coming in and warm air leaving the house. Storm doors save on cooling costs by allowing natural ventilation in the spring and summer. There are 2 main types of storm doors; aluminum frame and vinyl or aluminum skin over a solid woodcore. One of the most important things is to match your storm door style to your entry door style.
Entry Door Style  Possible Storm Door Style
Full Oval or full lite  Full lite

Aluminum Doors

Aluminum is the more popular and there are more varieties in terms of frame thicknesses, glass styles, retractable screens and colours available. There is a range of basic to premium models available.
  • Frame thicknesses range from 1 ¼" to 2"
  • Glass styles vary from plain or beveled full glass to plain 2 lite operating glass
  • Retractable screens are available on most 2 lite models
  • There are up to 8 different colours available depending on the model

Woodcore Doors

Woodcore is available in a basic to premium range as well. Woodcore provides the durability of a solid door and also offers a top and/or bottom ventilation system on specific models.
