Truck Bodies

The most basic body is a platform mounted on a fixed sub-frame which is in turn fixed to a cab and chassis. Given the application and load requirements that the product is expected to operate under, Durabody can design the most suitable configuration for your truck to do the job at hand. By considering the end users preferences, the cab and chassis manufacturer's guidelines along with jurisdictional rules and regulations, the optimum configuration of structural, load control and visibility aids can be integrated into a package which will provide you with years of service.

All of our products use electrically neutral barrier membranes to isolate dissimilar metals to reduce rust and corrosion due to electrolysis.

With the addition of a front wall, roof, curtain side walls and rear doors to the platform type of truck body, delicate cargo can be enclosed and protected from the elements without the operator having to struggle with tarpaulins in inclement weather. The Durabody designed tracking system and "Nylo-Glide" rollers facilitate opening and closing of the curtain walls to allow cargo access from any position along the sides of the deck. Smooth front and rear curtain tensioners and belt fasteners attached to the lower rail ensure that road grime is kept out while minimizing any flapping under heavy road winds. Rear swing doors allow access for dock loading and unloading. The "Panama weave" style of material used for the curtains is incredibly strong and tear resistant. It's like having the protection of a dry van and the flexibility of a flatbed.

The post and panel construction provides a strong, lightweight and durable shell to protect your precious cargo. Attention to detail is what differentiates Durabody products from those of competitors. In fair-weather conditions any truck body can deliver a load in good condition. Only one that has been built with close attention to fit and form will properly seal your product from the ravages of a torrential downpour in the summer, or driving ice and snow in the winter. Appropriate load control is provided by preferred cargo tracking in the walls or D-ring or chain-hook anchor points recessed in the floor.

For those who prefer a sturdier shell, Durabody manufactures FRP bodies with the same regard for detail and quality as the rest of our product line-up. Although somewhat heavier than the aluminum dry van configuration, the FRP body has the advantage of a greater interior clearance. Whereas post and beam construction requires walls of 2" thickness thus yielding a maximum of 98" interior width on a nominal 102" OD, the 3/4" thick FRP panels do not require additional lining or support thus yielding more than 100"ID. Although it does not sound like much, the difference can be appreciable when trying to load 48" pallets. Similarly the narrower wall thickness allows the option of a more compact rear door frame to accommodate a larger doorway for easier loading and unloading.

With the addition of foam-in-place insulation and a variety of optional reefers and heaters, both dry van body configurations lend themselves well to transport temperature sensitive cargo. Whether the product needs to be kept frozen, chilled or heated, a Durabody designer can offer an optimized product to suit your cargo. Insulated bulkheads, thermal curtains and multi-temperature reefers can provide separate temperature zones within the same unit to facilitate transporting both frozen and chilled products on the same run.

Because we design and build all of our products, Durabody has the flexibility to manufacture highly customized truck bodies to suit the needs of highly specialized applications. Whether we simply modify an existing production body or design from an idea, we can accommodate your needs.
