Moura Music Studios offers learning music in an exciting new way; a method that offers modern, contemporary selections for study that keeps students interested while they learn traditional techniques within the genre that they love and sometimes they forget that they are learning.
Our goal is to help people discover their music within. We have discovered that we can develop musicality within a cool, hip musical style or the traditional classical style of the Royal Conservatory of Music.
We offer lessons consistent with the school calendar. Our studio calendar goes from September to June. In June we hold a recital that showcases the students and all their hard work!
Moura Music Studios offers a full range of teaching programs. We offer lessons in voice, piano, musical theory, guitar and more!
The world of music not only teaches young students how to play but allows them to explore with sound and its educational elements such as allowing young children to be comfortable in groups and team work. We believe at a young age music is important in a child’s life. Music is a training that will help them feel confident in social environments and with their own voice, which is one of the most important things a child can have!
We offer vocal/singing lessons for all ages. Instruction is private which allows the
teacher to structure an individual approach to each student based on age, prior
instruction and, of course, musical interest. Classical vocal training within the
discipline of the Royal Conservatory of Music is also available.
Lessons are given by teachers who play because they love to play and teach
because they love to share their music. And, in this sharing we strive to pass on the
love of music along with the techniques necessary to create it.
Piano lessons are given by experienced teachers capable of instructing students of
all ages within the discipline of the Royal Conservatory of Music guidelines.
Examinations are not mandatory.
Our Musical Theatre Program encourages the performance and development
of musical talent within the theatrical genre. This program develops the artistic and dramatic aspect of each performer. Kate Moura writes all original scripts and performances for this program. The students learn from basic and technical elements of stage presence, stage direction and how to work in groups and learn to be in the spotlight. These plays incorporate singing, dancing and acting, allowing each student to experiment with different characters and scenes. At the end of the studio year Mouras holds a recital for the final production so the kids can showcase how hard they worked year round!
Students will learn to:
- Understand performance technique
- Understand character development
- Develop Interpersonal skills
- Learn Teamwork - a must in the theatre
- Learn about commitment
Moura’s also offers a great Kinder-Music program. We work with children ages 3-6 years old. Through weekly sessions these children get one-on-one training with the teacher and work in a group as they learn elementary music techniques and theory. The kids are able to work with instruments such as the piano and woodwinds and learn at a young age the importance of rhythm, tempo and sound.
We offer lessons for our summer season. Call the office for more details. Moura’s offers our very popular Moura Idol Camps:
Moura Idol Camp runs all week from Monday through Friday from 9:00am-5:00pm (before and after care available by request). All week the students learn vocal techniques, performance techniques, learn how to develop stage presence and perfect a song. At the end of the week the students record their song in a professional recording studio. This song will be produced by Kate Moura and Wayne Routledge (owner and production engineer of Watershed Studios located at Moura’s). After this process the performers have their hair and makeup done and shoot their music video, as well, they have their photos taken by a professional photographer. Girls and boys have the chance to be the Idol they’ve always known they can be.
Musical Theatre Camp runs all week from Monday through Friday from 9:00am-5:00pm (before and after care available by request). The studentswho are aspiring performers will rehearse and perform a musical play, written and directed by Kate Moura and her staff. Each student will receive instruction in vocal training, stage performance, rehearsing, script reading and scene and set production. A fun way to bring out the actor and singer inside! (July 21st-25th, 2008 - 9am-5pm - $300.00)
