-Mark the site on the abdomen where the stoma
will be located.
-Provide pre-op and post-op
teaching regarding ostomy surgery.

to the patient, family and other health care professionals.
-Provide education to patients, family and
health care providers regarding how to prevent wounds, how to treat wounds,
product selection, treatment administration, specialized treatments (ie.
-Assess existing wounds
(ie. using Doppler assessment).
-When wounds are
assessed to be healable, provide product and treatment options to improve/heal
these wounds, make necessary referrals to other health care professionals when
required, provide specialized care (ie. sharp debridement). -When wounds are not expected to
heal, make suggestions to manage pain, odor and prevent futher deterioration or
infection of the wound. -Assess patient regarding type
of incontinence. -Make suggestions to improve
episodes of incontenence. -Make referrals to
other health care professionals when required. -Provide teaching to the patient, family or other health care
providers (ie. intermittent self catheterization).
