Our Custom Orthotic Evaluation takes 60 minutes and includes a full lower body biomechanical assessment where our Physiotherapists examine posture, joint function and balance, muscular strength, functional mobility, and gait patterns. We then use plaster of paris (material used with fracture casting) to make a non-weight bearing, neutral mold cast of your foot. This technique takes longer than foam impression boxes and is consistently recognized as the gold standard technique which yields the best results for Custom Orthotics.
Your neutral mold casts are then sent to Paris Orthotics in Vancouver, BC who use the casts to create a mold of your foot. This mold is used to build your Custom Orthotic. We prescribe Custom Orthotics with the goal of maximizing function, while eliminating pain. With this goal in mind, we also make recommendations about exercises and self-management techniques to ensure full resolution of your foot dysfunction.
