Our staff has extensive post graduate training in manual therapy therefore the Durham Orthopedic & Sports Injury Clinic can offer advanced level of physiotherapy treatments. We are known for our high quality of care and our skill in dealing with the hard-to-treat cases which have been to other facilities with limited success.
Our treatment philosophy is hands-on direct care with a registered physiotherapist. Although we do use various modalities such as ultrasound, they are incorporated into our treatment which consists of a program of manual hands-on therapy and an individualized exercise program.
Acupuncture is used to help control pain, reduce inflammation and improve healing. It involves the insertion of fine needles through the skin at specific points on the body. This stimulates the body to release it's own endorphins which help decrease pain and inflammation in the injured area.
Acupuncture is used in conjunction with either physiotherapy or massage therapy to help speed up the healing process.
The Durham Orthopedic & Sports Injury Clinic offers massage therapy by registered massage therapists. Massage therapy can help chronic pain, fibromalgia, sports injuries, headaches, sprains and strains, work related injuries, whiplash injuries and much more.
Massage therapy involves mobilizing, kneading and stretching soft tissue for a therapeutic effect. It includes trigger point therapy and myofascial release techniques.
