Seniors' Secretariat - Oral Health of Seniors Policy Scan and Analysis

By: Pyra Management Consulting Services  09-12-2011
Keywords: data collection

Oral health has a substantive impact on health and well-being, yet oral health often remains peripheral to general health concerns. The Seniors Oral Health Collaboration(SOHC) is a project to develop policy recommendations and strategies that address the oral health needs of Nova Scotia seniors. PMCS worked with SOHC  to identify gaps in service and opportunities for improvements.

The consultation process included:

  • conduct of a comprehensive review of literature to inform the development of the data collection methodology and instruments;

  • conduct of telephone interviews with key informants; and

  • preparation and delivery of a final synthesis report.

A comprehensive implementation strategy incorporating feedback from the SOHC and recommendations to help build the capacity of stakeholders was included in the final report.
