The Key to Success

The Ultimate key to success for a polymer floor is in the skilled preparation of your substrate floor. The surface to be coated must be sound, clean and properly prepared. We take special steps and inspection to ensure that this procedure is done right! This is the single most important factor in ensuring that your floor does not fail!

We use technologically advanced dust-free shot blast equipment, dust-free grinders, scarifiers and scrubbers to prepare your substrate to receive your new flooring system.

What Is Shotblasting?

Shot blasting is a method used on concrete and steel surfaces which prepares the surface for the application of a coating, seamless floor or any type of overlays. In order for a new coating or overlay to bond correctly to a surface, it must be clean, free of contaminants, dry and profiled. A surface profile is needed to provide a "grip" or "teeth" for the coating to adhere to. The shot blast machine works by propelling steel shot at a high velocity onto a surface. This shot removes the surface layer of the concrete or steel, taking dirt, coatings, paint or other contaminants with it. A vacuum system attached to the machine pulls the debris into a chamber where an air wash system separates the debris from the shot. The debris is sent to the dust collector and the reusable shot is recycled. This dust free operation allows us to work in sensitive environments such as food processing and pharmaceutical plants.

Sealers, Liquid Hardners & Dustproofers

Sodium silicate based sealers are a propietary blend of Silconate polymers which penetrate concrete surfaces providing an increase in abrasion resistance and a reduction in the surface absorption of liquids. Silane/Siloxane sealers are a deep penetrating liquid designed to protect concrete structures, decks, and surfaces agianst the adverse effects of deicing salts, moisture, weathering and freeze damage.

Decorative Floors | East Coast Coatings

Designers and builders are drawn to stained concrete because of the unique outcome that can be achieved combining color and application techniques on concrete slabs. Versatile application where we incorporate vinyl flake chips and epoxy to create a decorative floor finish that is easy to clean and is resistant to chemicals.

Control/Expansion Joint Sealants | East Coast Coatings

Semi-rigid epoxy joint fillers are a two component, self-leveling sealant for load bearing saw cuts or preformed control joints. This system supports the joint edges and reduces spalling of the edges caused by wheel traffic. Semi-rigid to formula that allows for limited temperature and humidity movement of concrete. Concrete construction & control joints. Crack filler repair for old floors.

Services | East Coast Coatings

Our crews and equipment are fully mobile, allowing us to service you anywhere in Atlantic Canada. Benefit from our outstanding service and long list of comprehensive extras.

Seamless Floors | East Coast Coatings

This troweled system produces an aesthetic and sealed seamless floor composed of multi-colored hard granular aggregates and is finished with a transparent topcoat which is available in gloss. A seamless Floor with a integral cove base is by far, the preferred method for ease of maintenance of floor and highly recommended by environmental health code.

Concrete Repair & Restoration | East Coast Coatings

Fiber-reinforced repair mortars are one component, shrinkage-compensated, superplasticising admixture enhanced with silica fume to offer high strength and superior performance for structural concrete repair. Polyurethanes injection systems are a two component, 100% solid, flexible polyurethane grout used to firmly bond to concrete surface, and will displace and stop water infiltrations.

Specialty Coatings | East Coast Coatings

The system is applied with a epoxy primer, electrodes made of copper are installed on the edge and between the control joints to insure the conductivity, conductive coat is installed followed by a chemical resistant top coat. A floor can be 100% completed overnight; including all surface preparation and the installation of multiple MMA coats.
