loads of twiggy things in this collection!

twig lanterns, branch canopies, cork logs, custom
twiggy centrepieces, manzanita branches and
hanging glass lanterns.

Okay, we've got a bit of a different post for you this time .. all you wedding purists might want to hang on to your seats! ;)

When we first met with our bride, Ariel, she told us that she didn’t want her wedding to *feel* like a wedding. She said she loved the store Anthropologie! We're big Anthropologie fans and we decided to get involved a little bit more with the staging aspect of her wedding .. the fabrics, pillows and the antiques .. all the lovely, lovely details!

It turns out that we've got this old yellow couch (it generally resides on our deck at home) that was sort of one of the main things that started the whole ball rolling .. that’s really where the idea for all the antiques and vintage details started to come into play. We used a lot of custom pillows and hand-sewn birds in the curly willow trees we created .. complete with actual bird's nests that we rescued from the garden this spring. We also designed a flag garland that uses the same fabric as the napkins (which we had commissioned specifically for the wedding). We also had a local potter create some of the mini white vessels for the flowers.  And, of course, canning jars were everywhere with flowers and candles in them!

The flowers were mainly all yellow .. we used garden roses, local dahlias, a lot of herbs from the garden, lavender, lavender foliage, camomile and yarrow .. a lot of very local things that were coming up out of the ground at that time of the year.

We were really excited about designing this wedding because it’s really different than what you’d normally see or expect at a wedding. It was the ‘un-wedding’! The bride and groom were very focused on just creating a comfortable atmosphere for their guests and we're all about that!

We can't finish this post without paying homage to the infamous yellow couch that started it all. It's kinda funny how the inspiration for a whole wedding can come from a singular yellow couch. It's amusing.

Ever wonder how all those lovely details from your favourite weddings get put together?

And to think .. it all started with a yellow couch!

We just had to share some pics from an intimate wedding we designed for Cailee + Douglas .. we love the deep red, crimson and merlot colours layered on top of black lace and saphire blue of the girl's dresses way too much!!

The wedding ceremony took place in the afternoon at the Rose Garden at Pillar and Post in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Guests gathered later in the Old Library to celebrate with Cailee + Douglas over drinks and a dinner reception!

The flowers we designed with consisted of garden roses, orchids and dahlias .. that's it! What a luscious, bold and textural palette .. so much fun!

Here's Cailee's mesmerizing bridal bouquet .. definitely one of our favourites from this year!

Love, love, love Cailee's *red* wedding dress!!!

The bridesmaids wore lovely sapphire blue dresses ..

For the intimate dinner reception, our wrought iron twiggy trees were all covered in red mokara orchids and basked in the candlelit glow of hanging glass lanterns!

We went for a romantic and natural look and feel in mainly white with touches of lavender and some silver foliage. There was lots of variety in shapes and textures and the shades of white and ivory.

Flowers included lavender foliage, white hydrangeas, white tuberose, white calla lilies, garden roses, white dahlia, freesia and white lisianthus.

It was a very relaxed day with the afternoon ceremony taking place out in the vineyards (it's grape harvest time right now and it smells so great!) followed by a 7 course dinner in the Carriage House prepared by Executive Chef Justin Downes.

Unfortunately, due to Andrea's fame, we're unable to show you any pictures of her .. but she's gorgeous!! Here is Andrea's bridal bouquet ..

And the co-ordinating bridesmaid's bouquet ..

Have we ever mentioned how much we love Vineland Estates? I think so ..

We designed a 14ft long tablescape featuring a stunning 'cloud' of silvery foliages, white flowers and an absolute ton of the cutest little hanging glass lanterns hovering above the table!

The toad lillies are in full bloom right now .. we plucked a few from our organic cutting garden to put in Andrea's centrepieces!

You're wondering what's inside? Tasty Vineland Estates Icewine Chocolate Truffles!!!

We so looove intimate Niagara winery weddings .. it seems that we get to do quite a few in the fall season!

Christal + Ki were married in an outdoor wedding ceremony on the deck overlooking the vineyards with the Niagara Escarpment and Lake Ontario in the distance .. breathtakingly beautiful! After the ceremony, their guests were invited on a wine tour and then back to the Carriage House for dinner where a beautiful tablescape in the centre of the room was awaiting them!

Flowers we designed with included green and white hydrangeas, stunning purple Vanda orchid blooms, dahlias, roses and pieris. Quirky elements included cork logs, Manzanita branches, giant slabs of walnut and canning jars with oodles of glass candlelight!

Stunning purple vanda orchids for the boutonnieres ..

Cute and romantic floral pomander balls on the front doors of the Vineland Estates Carriage House ..

This tablescape in the Carriage House features loads of flowers, romantic candlelight, textural elements (such as wood slabs and cork logs) and the gleam of pristine glass (Mason jars and our signature glass candlesticks).

Would loooooved to have stayed for dinner .. :)
