"Being You" uses a blend of contemporary, clinical and native traditional disciplines and values as a bases in all their sessions.
As a husband and wife team, we work as co-therapists using an integrated holistic approach to overcome and work through issue, make changes and develop the weaker aspects of oneself. It is our belief that inner-changes and development are the core to personal and professional development and growth.

Individual Sessions
  • Sessions are available for adults who seeking individual or couple counseling.  Therapeutic sessions enable individuals to safely work through issues mentioned while emphasizing self-realization of one's life affirming values and qualities.
Therapeutic Training
  • These sessions are 3 to 10 days in duration are mainly done at Pinewood Lodge Retreat & Training Centre.Custom designed and delivered therapeutic Holistic Self-Care/Management Training programs are available via contract for communities members, caregivers, staff and organizations and can be delivered on site. 
Staff Development & Rejuvenation
  • These sessions are done as a Holistic Self-Care/Management Training program using different themes.The sessions are available from 3 to 7 days in duration can be done at the Being You/Matheson Island Lodge Retreat & Training Centre.Custom designed and delivered therapeutic Holistic Self-Care/Management Training programs are available via contract for communities members, caregivers, staff and organizations and can be delivered on site.
Residential Schools
  • Eyaa-keen Centre Inc. has contracted "Being You" Inc. to deliver their own developed programs to address the legacy of residential schools. "Being You" has been providing service in this area since 1989.The program currently running is The 'Next Step' Process series, Integrated Holistic Approach to Wellness & Changing the Legacy of Residential Schools.A series of five and ten day residential sessions are available for all survivors and decedents.


Program Criteria to achieve expected outcomes:  

  • Aboriginal adult (over twenty)

  • Alcohol/drug free min. one year (call for clarification)

  • Self referred

  • Has done some healing work on self or open to look at oneself

  • Willing to be responsible, accountable for own healing/change process

  • Willing to participate in change and healing process

  • Willing to stay and complete program

  • Demonstrate a willingness to invest in the process personally

  • Open to traditional experiences (i.e. teachings, smudge, sweats, etc.)

  • Arrange own child care  

Expected Outcomes:

  • Identify key inner and life changes necessary for maintaining a sense of well-being
  • Develop abilities to let-go and release old hurts, fears, traumas/shock and their effects
  • Increase ability to self-trust and to trust others
  • Develop abilities to manage and handle stress
  • Identify the causes for past and present conflicts within self and their relationships
  • Increase awareness of patterns in repeatedly forming destructive relationships
  • Identify and work through inner blocks and fears
  • Develop cognitive and behavior strategies to reduce and/or eliminate anxiety, fears, depression, etc.
  • Increase acceptability of self-responsibility and accountability while expanding an inner freedom
  • Identify feelings and beliefs associated with parental child-rearing patterns and develop abilities to work through and overcome them
  • To decrease fear of rejection while increasing sense of self-acceptance
  • Increase ability and quality of communication with others
  • Identify and verbalize needs in relationships
  • Demonstrate the ability to follow through to completion of simple tasks
  • Increase ability to say no and set a clear cut set of limits for oneself
  • Increase ability to have positive interaction with authority
  • Increase knowledge of healthy dependence and healthy independence
  • Identify, develop boundaries for self in relationships
  • Increase awareness of boundaries and when they are violated
  • Increase ability to recognize healthy support
  • Increase awareness of holistic family dynamics
  • Increase awareness of how avoiding dealing with loss has a negative effect on their life
  • Increase ability to resolve loss/grief holistically
  • Decrease impulsively in action, self-abuse, gambling, etc.
  • Replace concept of higher power as harsh and judgmental with one where higher power is accepting, forgiving and loving
  • Develop ability to plan a future for themselves
  • Increase self identity and acceptance of traditional/cultural values
