Computers don't work well when they look like this.

This system badly needs a lakesidedigital tune-up!

Dust - your computer's dirty secret

At left is a typical system as it arrives on our service bench with a serious collection of dust. Dust accumulates in any computer due to the fact that there are dust particles in the air that is aspirated through the cooling fans in the system.

The typical computer system has between three and five fans and some as many as ten. It not only appears unsightly, but dust also impedes the performance of sensitive electronic components. Because heat is trapped behind the dust, in many cases, like this one, a meltdown is waiting to occur.

How do you know if you need to bring your computer in for a service or tune-up?

Here is a short list:

If the fans are noisy, the hard drive is loosing data or does not always start. If your computer runs slow, has error messages on the screen, has frequent popups or general inconsistencies.

If Internet Explorer is acting up, your virus scanner is not working or you can’t perform other routine tasks, you know its time to visit lakesidedigital.
