Keywords: Deep Tissue Massage, Muscle Tension

Deep Tissue Massage techniques are used to release chronic patterns of muscular tension.

Slow deep strokes, using fingers, thumbs and elbows apply direct pressure across the grain of the muscle, tendons and fascia. This opens the fibers in the tissue easing muscle tension and creating space in the tissue and lengthens the fibers.

The pressure is greater and goes deeper into the layers of muscle than Swedish Massage. Deep Tissue massages may feel intense. The pressure is adjusted to each client's tolerance. Massage should not be painful when done slowly and correctly.
