I love Dockside.
Aside from having one of the best patios in Vancouver, Dockside offers some of the best views of False Creek. Conveniently located on Granville Island, this restaurant is date-night heaven. Or girl’s-night-out-heaven. Or get-out-of-the-doghouse heaven. You get the idea.
The food is great, the service is attentive and they have some of the best brews in the city. With a brewery crafting fresh beer on site, Dockside is guaranteed to please the palate of the beer connoisseur in your party.
So many reasons to try them out – and here’s one more:

The application uses GPS technology, to make sure that each walking tour offers accurate and easy directions to sights, monuments, attractions, as well as out-of-the-way local points of interest; it is as if you had your own local guide. The best part is that you can explore all the best attractions at your own pace; on your own time, and at a cost that is only a fraction of what you would pay for a guided tour.
I had a chance to check out their Vancouver app and I liked it! its pretty easy to use and has lots of tours available! you can choose from Main Street antique shops, to the hottest clubs or my favorite, Chinatown. There is really something for everyone. This is a great app if you have relatives visiting for the holidays, or if you just want to get lost in the city for a while.
If you want to check out the Vancouver app for yourself, the folks at GPSmyCity.com have given me some promo codes to give away! Simply comment on this post for a chance to win one of them. Please note that you need an American ITunes account to access the code. If you don’t have one, I will send you instructions on how to set one up. For you Tweeps out there, you know what to do…

Twitter is not a social media platform, it’s THE social media platform. And some savvy folks know that nothing engages your customer/followers better than a contest.

I love musicals, I love tragic love stories – its kindda my thing.
Based on the book by Kathy Leung, Red Letters is set in 1920′s Vancouver. It’s the story of Shen, an immigrant from China, who leaves behind his wife and family to come to Canada in order to make a better life for them. Shen’s dreams of bringing his family over are shattered with the enactment of the $500 head tax and the Exclusion Act in 1923. He works tireless to raise enough money to bring his wife to Canada, but in the end, both are separated forever.
Getting misty-eyed yet? the worst part of it, it’s that its true, The government made over $23 million dollars from the head tax – which was almost impossible to raise. A lot of families were left to fend for themselves back at home, and life was intolerably lonely for the immigrants here.
8pm nightly with select matinée performances
