TUV is an Independent Testing Agency monitored by the Federal Government of Germany.  Its goals are similar to the EPA in the United States.

The changes in emissions after 5,000 Km are all positive for the environment and your engine. Use of the HaloTM Plug should lead to decreased acid rain, smog, and global warming.  Note that any increase in CO2 is seen as an increase in engine performance.  A reduction in Hydrocarbons (HC) also indicates an increase in fuel economy.  Hydrocarbon is unburned gasoline vapor and a reduction in HC means that more of the fuel is being burned in the combustion chamber.

Three tests at approximately 10-km intervals were conducted upon initial installation of new Bosch FLR8LDCU plugs and the results averaged. This testing method was then repeated after 5,000 km of use. The same procedure was then performed with the HaloTM plugs installed.

Data were analyzed for repeatability and general trends for each group of plugs, and then data for the two types compared to determine if there was a difference. This is a summary of the results.

Note:

HC Hydrocarbon is unburned gasoline vapor that is left over from incomplete combustion.  HC is a contributor to smog.

CO Carbon Monoxide is a colorless, odorless, toxic gas that is formed when carbon in fuel is not burned completely .  CO from automobiles is a major cause of smog, which can cause serious respiratory problems.

NOx NOx is a generic term for the various Nitrogen Oxides produced during combustion.  According to the EPA, NOx contributes to a variety of environmental problems including global warming, acid rain, and smog, which can cause serious health problems.
