Johnson Irrigation - Trenching

By: Johnson Irrigation  09-12-2011

save time

Our trenching equipment enables us to dig a 6" wide trench up to 3 feet deep. When multiple utilities are being installed or you need to visually inspect and ensure level, this equipment is less disruptive and much quicker than backhoes.

less damage

The trencher operates like a large chainsaw. The ability to dig and excavate an area with minimal damage means that it takes less time to excavate and less time to clean up. Less time means less expensive. Almost any utility, pipe or wire will fit in a 6" trench. A backhoe can't efficiently excavate a narrow line like that. It digs a line that is normally far larger than what is required. Not only does that cause more damage, but it takes longer to dig and longer to replace the soil once complete.

How quickly can we trench? Depending on soil conditions, we could trench about 25 feet per minute.

Johnson Irrigation - Pumps

However, when installed exclusively for use on a sprinkler system, the design of the sprinkler system must match the output of the pump or premature wear and failure of the pump will occur. Since they are installed in the water and do not require priming or suction, they are able to deliver a high volume of water at the ideal operating pressure required for sprinkler systems.

Johnson Irrigation - Pipe pulling

First the grass would have to be removed, then digging and installing the pipe or wire followed by filling in the trench. Our equipment enables us to install pipe, cable, conduit or wire up to 2' deep without damaging your property. The speed at which we are able to install pipe and wire can save not only your property, but money as well. Depending on the condition of your lawn, these lines may be undetectable by the end of the day.

Johnson Irrigation - Drainage

Horizontal drainage, for the most part, only occurs once the soil is saturated and begins to flow on the surface towards the lowest point. Once the ground becomes saturated and the terrain is such that the water cannot naturally flow away, the area will begin to flood. With the installation of underground drainage we can give the soil a saturation level that is now underground.

Johnson Irrigation - Boring and horizontal drilling

Most contractors will tell you it can't be done or that they need to cut your driveway or walkway and then patch it. Not only is this technique more aesthetically appealing but it causes minimal disruption to the base structure. If we don't have to disturb the base material, so we don't have to worry about compacting an excavated area. The majority of work we do with our boring equipment consists of drilling under driveways and parking lots.
