Web services take on many roles with varying configurations and topologies.
The most basic need to is to have several development centers send prroduction requests to Print Service Providers who have spercific printing capability. Fedex/Kinko have a model that meets these needs.
As print jobs becomre complex, it may be more efficient to send a print template with the merge data file to the printing location. These would reduce bandwidth requirements as well as support the next evolutionary step of on line VDP client access.
