PV Sailing Apprenticeship Program
- Sail Making and Repair
- Boat Rigging and Repair
- Race Management
- Yacht Racing
Sailing is a sport of many trades. The PV Sailing Apprenticeship is an International Sailing Academy branch program that is designed to offer sailors an introduction to the professional World of sailing. We call the program “Live To Sail”, because it is meant for sailors who wish to continue their training in either Olympic sailing, Race management, Yacht Racing, Coaching, and Offshore Seamanship. On top of this, the program offers the chance to work at the PV Sailing loft and learn the skills of Sail Making and Boat Works. The Loft itself is run like a boat, wherein sailors approach the program with their personal aspirations and are immediately immersed into a program that suites their ambitions and developing abilities. This is a base-level, hands on apprenticeship that will ensure participants will gain knowledge in every aspect of the sport of Sailing. Sailors who are selected to join the program will be working under Mike and Leah Danielson’s direction for long term duration. Sailors are compensated enough to live off, and daily meals are provided by ISA’s chef, Leah. Accommodations are a “Crews Quarters” style apartment under the Sail Loft with Cable TV and Internet.
Extras: Aside from servicing a fleet that is truly going places, PV sailing has been involved in the logistical management for major regattas to Vallarta such as J-24worlds, Optimist North Americans, MEXORC, as well as the soon 2011 PanAm Games…. Sailors are guaranteed to make connections in the Yachting World, through events and as crew on local yachts.
