InKarma Volunteers with the YSM Children’s Breakfast Program on Saturday April 10!
We hope that you had a fantastic Easter Weekend and a great spring thus far! Spring is the time when many of us emerge from hibernation and get back in the sunshine again.
InKarma is doing the same as we are volunteering with the Yonge St Mission’s (YSM) Children’s Breakfast Club. The YSM Breakfast Club is a community-building and meal program which serves children from the Regent Park, Moss Park and St Jamestown neighbourhoods between the ages of 6-11. This Saturday, approximately 50 children are expected to enjoy a nutritious meal and the fun learning activities.
But the Yonge St Mission needs the helping hands of the community to assist with several tasks which include:
- Preparing and cooking food
- Dine with, and interact with the children
- Help conduct several activities including crafts, games and exercise
- Supervise the “Chill-out” room where kids play ping-pong, board games, computer games, etc…
If you would like to join InKarma and help out the children at the Yonge St Mission, please let us know. This is also an excellent opportunity for high-school students to volunteer to gain any needed volunteer hours. The volunteer time will occur from 9-1:30pm on Saturday, April 10. In addition, your entire family is welcome as there is no age limit for volunteers.
