Applied Ceramic Label (ACL): This is a printing process that is used on glass only where ACL bonds inks and chemicals to adhere to the container's surface. This is an extremely durable labeling process that is resistant to chipping and flaking.
Applied Organic Labeling (AOL): Similar in the process to ACL printing, AOL allows end users a larger range of organic colors that conforms to CONEG or Proposition 65.
Heat Transfer Decal (HTD): As containers are preheated to 250 degrees, labels are automatically applied with chemicals and cured in a lehr. Complex artwork containing several colors can be used in this process. The end result is a durable label with consistent registration.
Hot Stamping: First, a die is mounted and heated, then foil is positioned above the material to be imprinted, and finally a combination of heat, dwell time, pressure and stripping time control the quality of the stamp. Hot stamping is environmentally friendly because of it being a dry process because it does not use solvents or inks and does not create any harmful vapors.
Pad Printing: A printing process that can transfer a 2-D image onto a 3-D object. This print is accomplished using an indirect offset printing process that involves an image being transferred from the printing plate with a silicone pad onto a surface to be printed. Pad printing is used for printing on otherwise complex products.
Pressure Sensitive Labeling (PSL): Whether it may be glass or plastic bottles and or jars, pressure sensitive labeling applies pre-printed labels on high speed machines to each container. Detailed artwork and complex images can be used with this method at high speeds.
Screen Printing: Uses a stencil to transfer an image to glass or plastic packaging through fine mesh screens. Screen Printing is a common practice for decoration in personal care and health and beauty markets.
Spray Coating: Glass and plastic containers can be spray coated in a variety of decorating colors. From frosting to faded colors, spray coating can help elevate a package and make it stand alone.
