Consulting advice on compliance and ethics programs

We design compliance policies, codes of conduct and procedures into simplified guidelines that your staff can easily follow and understand.

Compliance and ethics risk assessment

We perform focused and comprehensive risk assessments of your organization's operations and we help you implement the results of the assessment to create a more robust and relevant ethics and compliance program.

Consulting advice for the investigation of cases of workplace harassment

We develop a plan of investigation for the allegations, including a list of objectives, individual steps, the types of evidence to be gathered, assignment of roles to the investigating panel, and the timing of each investigative step. We deliver training to members of the investigating panel on techniques for investigating allegations of harassment, including a review of the investigation framework, how to gather and preserve evidence, how to conduct and document interviews and how to write a report of investigation.

Profile analysis

Hudson-Ethics Consulting starts by developing a comprehensive analysis of the reporting population. Trends are analyzed by grade, job function, location and category of filer so that you know exactly how many reports need a follow-up and the reasons why. We quickly identify staff who are at high risk for conflict of interest, thus maximizing the use of your precious time and resources.

Resources determination

We give you a precise budget for a follow-up review that flows from the analysis of the financial disclosure data filed by your staff.

Based on the profiles of your staff members, we can customize your review framework for assessing the risk of conflict of interest. Your framework will be developed from real cases as reported by your staff.

We analyze the situations reported by your staff and match them against your review framework to determine if his/her independence and objectivity is at risk of being compromised.

Protocol review

We track all potential conflict of interest situations and ask staff members for more information.

We also select a sample of staff to verify their reports, for instance those who do not report transactions, or who may require a more in-depth review of their situation.

Safe review

By working with our company, you will enjoy the peace of mind that comes with knowing that you are receiving the services of highly trained ethics professionals whose tact and confidentiality can be relied upon at all times.

Hudson-Ethics Consulting's training programs are designed to empower staff and management to take responsibility for their actions and for making informed and ethical decisions in many situations.

Training Subjects Ethics

Online and face-to-face training and training-of-trainers workshops build staff and management’s ethical skills and knowledge using practical teaching and real-life scenarios.

This encompasses understanding regulations and rules, and setting in place control mechanisms to guide staff in preventing and correcting ethics mistakes.

Hudson-Ethics Consulting enables you to understand discrimination, harassment, what constitutes retaliation and how to address behaviors that violate your Organization’s policy.

Investigation of a case of workplace harassment

Members of the investigating panel will be trained on techniques for investigating allegations of harassment, including a review of the investigation framework, how to gather and preserve evidence, how to conduct and document interviews, and how to write a report of investigation. We assist in identifying a framework for conducting investigations and in customizing it to the environment of your Organization.

Investigations of fraud, theft and misconduct

This general course on investigations, which teaches how to conduct investigations of fraud, theft and misconduct, is given to an audience of internal auditors in general principles of fraud investigations, focusing on the types of issues most likely to be encountered in the work environment. Hudson-Ethics Consulting also offers fraud detection and prevention as a separate service to clients, described more fully below.

Financial Disclosure

This focuses on how to develop, implement and manage an effective Financial Disclosure Policy to help ensure the appropriate management of actual or potential conflicts.

The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners has concluded that the typical organization loses 5% of its annual revenue to fraud, with 18 months the median time that fraud lasts before it is detected. It has also found that small organizations are disproportionately vulnerable to fraud, simply because they typically do not have adequate controls in place.

Hudson-Ethics Consulting’s team of professionals offers two separate tracks for detecting fraud. The first identifies conflicts of interest; the second provides data analysis. Combined, they yield a comprehensive, commanding picture of actual and potential fraudulent activities. Perhaps even more important, HEC understands the human dynamics surrounding fraud, and acts in a discreet, disciplined manner to resolve any concerns without disrupting the client’s operations.

In addressing fraud prevention, HEC helps clients examine a range of issues, from hiring policies, employee training and morale to reporting mechanisms, controls and risk assessments. Regardless of whether fraudulent activity is detected, HEC’s preventative measures enable clients to achieve best practices in governance.
