H&V’s Advanced Fiber Nonwovens Group (AFN) produces 100% synthetic nonwovens with exotic, high performance fibers. These specialized advanced composite materials are particularly appropriate for demanding applications.

We formulate these long fiber nonwovens to customers’ unique specifications for use as mats and surfacing veils in a variety of composite applications. AFN is the only supplier that offers custom blending and short runs of high value products. Our materials are found in aerospace, corrosive tank/pipe, radar signature management, thermal insulation, sporting goods and EMI shielding applications. Our materials are exceptional due to their long fibers and uniform dispersion. At both extreme light weights (6 g/m2) and heavier weights (350 g/m2), AFN nonwovens are nearly isotropic with very little directionality in the plane of the fabric. PAN carbon, nickel-coated carbon, PBO, para-aramid, and ECR-glass are just a few of the types of fibers utilized. Several different types of binder systems are also available.

All AFN nonwovens are manufactured in H&V's Hawkinsville, Georgia plant. The facility is AS 9100 REV B(aerospace) and ISO 9001:2000 certified. The Hawkinsville plant is a 24/7 operation. Most referenced AFN items are available from stock with low minimum order requirements

AFN manufactures lightweight fibrous veils for a variety of radar signature management and low observable applications. These AS 9100 materials are recognized for their uniform and finely tuned electrical properties. We can tailor a web to your specifications.

AFN® customers are currently using our products as pultruded tube covering, honeycomb facing, circuit board stabilizers, thermal insulation, battery electrodes, and adhesive substrate.
