I had no time, yet that this was one of those spontaneous, creative, socially-engaged projects that was simply impossible to refuse. Experiment — Hidden Story Productions

So I cobbled together a short video to not only give you a visual taste of the experience, but to remind me of what an incredible experience it was for me to be there. Then after a week or two of reintegrating into Canadian society, you can’t remember anything about what was so vivid moments before. First you rediscover what you had left behind: domestic chores. Coming back from vacation is cruel in two ways.

Reel World Youth — Hidden Story Productions

There are problems with boring interviewees, camera shake over the most inspiring parts, cuts that you can’t bear to make… but the final video grows on the computer screen allowing you to see what is only in your mind. Hours of footage to log, hours of footage you wish you had, and out of all that you hope beyond hope that a story begins to take shape. Editing is my favourite part of the process.

As it turns out, the story of my life, a handful of my homemade videos, and a decent knowledge of Harry Potter gave me all the connection I needed to make a connection. This is the beginning of a tremendously exciting project I am working on with Kate, a teacher from the Alice Jamieson Girls Academy, a public. Being faced with a class of thirty teenage girls is a terrifying prospect for someone who only grew up with a brother.


Advocate — Hidden Story Productions

He presided over courts in Canmore, Banff, and Cochrane, and it was in Cochrane that he had his eyes opened to the inequities faced by aboriginal people in our justice system. This was one of the most moving talks we filmed at the TEDxCalgary event about a judge who came to understand more deeply what justice is all about. At age 30, John Reilly was the youngest Provincial Court Judge ever appointed in Alberta.
