Harmony Audio Video Systems Group, Inc - calib

Calibration is a critical last step in any audio/video system. You will never experience what your equipment is truly capable of until it is calibrated.

While a big picture and a loud sound system can create excitement and achieve a WOW factor, it can also fall woefully short of recreating the artistry that the professionals in the film & TV industry work to achieve.

A properly calibrated system achieves the goal of having the Media being played take centre stage and not the equipment.

Video calibration involves making your display, no matter the technology behind it, reproduce colours, resolution and depth to the best of its capability.

No matter what display you have, a flat screen  plasma/LCD TV or a projection system, calibration will make everything you watch seem much more real and vibrant.

The more accurate a display is, the more real and lifelike the image will be and the more you will be immersed in the story that is being told.

“A picture is worth a thousand words”

Audio calibration involves making all aspects of an audio system perform together properly.

The goal is to achieve clarity, focus, dynamics, response and envelopment.

Audio calibration is more involved than video calibration as there are many more factors that impact the sound you hear.  In a typical media room there are 35 elements to achieving these goals.

With our experience and the proper test equipment we can maximize the performance of the audio equipment while working within the design and aesthetic requirements of our clients.

Even to the untrained eye or ear, the difference calibration makes is dramatic. Often we are called in to calibrate systems that have been in place for many years. In all cases our clients have been literally shocked by the difference in performance.

We use specialized test equipment that allows us to calibrate all audio and video equipment that exists and possess the knowledge and experience to use it properly.

Our technicians are certified by HAA (Home Acoustics Alliance) and ISF (Imagining Sciences Foundation). These are the leading organizations in audio and video calibration.

Our preferred method involves attaching treatment to the walls and then covering the walls with an acoustically transparent fabric that matches the decor of the room. Using acoustic isolation allows the freedom to leave the volume control alone and let the movie play at the sound level the director and sound engineer intended. Acoustic isolation involves reducing or eliminating sound leaving the room as well as sound entering the room.
