Both HCRG teams will host squads from London’s Forest City Derby Girls in a double header on Saturday, May 7 at Dave Andreychuk Arena. Hamilton, ON, Canada – The Hammer City Roller Girls are gearing up to hit the track in their first game of the 2011 season. The HCRG’s August home game will be played at JL Grightmire (Market Street) Arena, 35 Market Street South in Dundas, Ontario.

The newly-realigned Harlots are hitting their stride as HCRG’s regional team, having just represented the league at the Canadian Women’s Roller Derby Association East tournament in Ottawa, ON in June. They battled their way to a fourth-place finish following a convincing win over Brantford’s Belle City Roller Girls and falling to eventual champions Forest City of London in the semi-finals.

In the season opener doubleheader on May 7, both teams in the newly re-aligned Hammer City Roller Girls fell to London’s Forest City Derby Girls, so with the sting of that loss and hot off the track from The Midwest Brew Ha Ha tournament in Milaukee, WI, The Eh. The two leagues are long established flat-track roller derby rivals, having skated against each other every season since 2007.

HCRG christened Hamilton Waterfront Trust’s skate pad last summer with a hotly contested intra-league bout, and are thrilled to be back as part of a historical maritime weekend that also features the appearance of the most-traveled tall ship in history, the Pride of Baltimore II.
