Lead has long been recognized as a harmful environmental pollutant. In late 1991, theSecretary of the Department of Health and Human Services called lead the "number one environmental threat to the health of children in the United States." There are many ways in which humans are exposed to lead: through air, drinking water, food, contaminated soil, deteriorating paint, and dust. Before it was known how harmful lead could be, it was used in paint, gasoline, water pipes, and many other products.

Lead-based paint is the most significant source of lead exposure in the U.S. today. Harmful exposures to lead can be created when lead-based paint is improperly removed from surfaces by dry scraping, sanding, or open-flame burning.

EnviroRem, Inc. provides Lead Removal and Abatement for many different clients. Recently, EnviroRem, Inc. provided this service to the Memphis Redbirds.  The project called for lead based paint abatement from all piping, piping accessories and equipment associated with the energy management systems. It included removal of asbestos containing thermal system insulation from the above areas.

All of the abatement work was completed in accordance with local, state and federal laws and regulations. All hazardous materials were transported to and disposed of at approved, permitted solid waste landfills.

EnviroRem, Inc. has recently completed two of the largest mold clean up project ever performed within the State of Tennessee.Molds can be found virtually anywhere that moisture and oxygen are present. There aredifferent types of molds that can grow on wood, paper, carpet, and insulation. If the mold problem remains undiscovered and the moisture continues to feed the mold the spores will continue to grow. Eventually mold spores destroy whatever they are growing on.

Adverse health effects may result from mold growth in buildings or homes.  In order to ensure proper remediation and disposal of toxic mold the EPA strongly suggests consulting a professional, such as EnviroRem, Inc.

Asbestos is a problem because, as a toxic substance and a known carcinogen, it is the only carcinogenic that can cause all four types of Lung Cancer. Asbestos has also been known own to cause mesosdomy cancer of the stomach and colon.

EnviroRem have completed a wide variety of asbestos removal projects including hospitals, manufacturing facilities, retail shopping malls and residential and multi-family housing. EI has also provided asbestos removal and general constructing services and term contract basis for Dade, Broward and Seminole County schools in Florida and Mississippi Department of Transportation.

The asbestos work that has been done has been completed in accordance with all local, state and federal laws and regulations. Hazardous materials are transported and disposed of at permitted, solid waste landfills approved by the Mississippi Office of Pollution Control.

EnviroRem’s view on demolition is first to be environmentally friendly, but not to the extentit negatively affects our clients cost. E.I. recycles metals, brick and antique lumber. Key people employed by EnviroRem have been performing demo work for over 12 years. EI projects range from interior wrecking to total demolition of multi story buildings.

About 705,000 underground storage tank systems (UST’s) nationwide store petroleum orhazardous substances that can harm the environment and human health if the UST’s release their stored contents.

Contaminated UST sites vary considerably. Some are very contaminated sites, which groundwater resources have been adversely impacted and may involve years of cleanup activities. Other sites may involve relatively minor or no groundwater contamination and may allow cleanup to restore the site more quickly. Some contaminated sites have impacted only surrounding soil and have not involved groundwater—these are generally easier to clean up.
