In the setting of North America’s oldest city, St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, the Emergency Medical Services Chiefs of Canada (EMSCC) annual conference 2011 will focus on leadership. EMSCC 2011 promises insightful sessions on how to be a leader among leaders. The keynote speaker General Rick Hillier (Ret.) will provide a session that you will not want to miss. Come hear Canada’s former top military leader talk about leadership roles and methodology.
St. John’s Newfoundland is picturesque and close to many sight seeing opportunities. This years schedule will allow you to not only take in some excellent educational opportunities but also provide you with time to enjoy the great city and surrounding area.
Join us and your counterparts from across Canada for the networking opportunity of the year, where you can visit with old friends and make new contacts that will last a lifetime. The contacts you make at EMSCC 2011 and the ideas you exchange may help shape your service in the years to come.
This year EMSCC has partnered with the Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians (CAEP). EMSCC and CAEP will have back to back conferences in St. John’s with the initial day of EMSCC being a pre-conference day with CAEP. On this day delegates will be able to attend any sessions they choose from either conference. Please be sure to consider this option when you register.
Additionally, the last day of EMSCC will overlap with the Newfoundland and Labrador Paramedicine and Medical Transport conference Horizon 2011. Like day one delegates will get to choose sessions from either conference based on their interest. Horizon 2011 will have dynamic speakers and provide further front line education topics that focus on patient care. For a minimal additional fee you can stay and enjoy the second day of Horizon 2011. Go to the Horizon website link for further detail on this conference.
The collaboration of EMSCC, Horizon and CAEP provide you a unique opportunity that will allow you to pick the topic that most interest you on the crossover days and tailor your experience based on your interest. You will have the benefit of three conferences for virtually the price of one.
To add to the EMSCC 2011 experience there are many social events planned for you throughout the conference. Starting with a mix and mingle session in the vendor’s area which will move the historical Majestic Theater, built in 1918, and become a jam session of local musicians in which you are encouraged to bring your instruments and play along.
Then the next night you can visit the famous George Street as we have arranged a Pub crawl of four of the local establishments. The night will begin with a traditional feed of fish and chips and then you will have an opportunity to try your best traditional Irish dancing moves, as well as be “Screeched in” as an honorary Newfoundlander. The night will end with music and dancing at the final destination. On the final night we will end the conference with a formal banquet and dance.
This year’s conference has been set up to allow you to get the maximum out of each day. Which means you will have ample time to explore the city while still being provided the high quality presentations you have come to expect from EMSCC. If you can only make one conference this year, this is the one you will want to attend.
