Lois Brown has over 40 years of experience covering all fields of medical imaging. She earned her MSc in "Research in Radiation Sciences" from Anglia Ruskin University, where the subject of her master's thesis was developing an international program to assist non-Canadian trained radiographers to successfully complete their CAMRT licensing examinations.
Ms. Brown holds several certifications including a CHA certification in Hospital Department Management and a Certified Densitometry Technologist (CDT) as awarded by the International Society for Clinical Densitometry (ISCD). She has conducted workshops and lectures across Canada at provincial and national Annual General Meetings (AGMs) and she has won eight provincial and national awards for her exceptional exhibits of work in the field of radiography, including three Percy Ghent Awards and two George Reason Cups.
She served as the Advanced Certification Co-ordinator for the Radiography Program at the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) where she developed a syllabus for all the subject areas, revised all the question banks in the Advanced Certification category and set up the concept of specialized area examinations in neuro and cardiovascular imaging.
Ms. Brown has been on the forefront of education in medical imaging, having authored the book, "The Joy of Sectioning - Achieving Maximum Results in Tomography" (1981, 225 pages, ISBN # 0-919130-44-5) and contributed two chapters to �Pediatric Imaging for the Technologist" (1987, ISBN #0-387-96439-8). In addition, she has authored and tutored correspondance courses such as "Beginning Bone Mineral Densitometry" and has held faculty positions at institutions including the Kingston School of Radiography (teaching Quality Control) and at The Michener Institute for Applied Health Sciences where she taught Physics, Imaging and Radiobiology, and then moved into the Continuing Education Department where she managed graduate imaging courses for the Imaging and Oncology areas comprising seventeen (17) imaging disciplines.
As President and CEO of Xray Imaging Consultants Ltd., a full-service radiological quality control company, Ms. Brown has a wealth of hands-on experience meeting the needs of healthcare administrators by assisting them in achieving high quality imaging results, inspecting imaging equipment to meet ongoing compliance with government regulations, and the resolution of imaging artifacts particularly in Mammography and Quality Control. Ms. Brown also started a veterinary imaging business in response to requests by veterinarians for imaging assistance and training.
