Annual eye exams are vital to maintaining your vision and overall health.

Crozet Eye Care offers comprehensive eye exams to assess all vision care needs. Our thorough exams create a baseline, allowing us to detect changes from year to year in a fast and efficient manner. This makes it easier to diagnose and treat all eye conditions.

Our eye exams include some of the most technologically advanced procedures available, including:

optomap® Retinal Exam

This is a wellness screening procedure that involves capturing an ultra widefield image of the retina that is as unique as your fingerprint. Fast, easy and 100% pain free, you simply look into the device while it takes an image. Many eye problems can develop without your knowing; however, diseases such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal tears or detachments, and other health problems like diabetes and high blood pressure, can be seen with a thorough examination of the retina. The optomap® image becomes a permanent record of our patients’ files.

PASCAL Dynamic Contour Tonometer (DCT)

The PASCAL DCT is a revolutionary new digital technology that determines the intraocular pressure (IOP), or fluid pressure inside the eye, as well as the ocular pulse amplitude (OPA). This new tonometer replaces the dreaded “puff of air” that many of our patients inquire about. It is quick and painless and is an integral test in the evaluation of patients with and detection of glaucoma.

Humphrey Matrix Automated Visual Field

Instead of checking peripheral vision by counting the doctor’s finger off to the side, this highly sophisticated instrument is proven to detect early peripheral vision loss due to glaucoma, stroke and other neurologic disorders. The procedure takes only about 40 seconds per eye and is included in all comprehensive exams.

A common complication of diabetes is diabetic retinopathy in which elevated blood sugar damages the delicate blood vessels inside the eye, causing them to leak, bleed, and become blocked. However, early detection, prompt treatment, and regular monitoring can enable you to continue living in much the same way as you have always lived.
