Self-healing coating : Composites World

The self-healing capability reportedly reduces end-user costs by minimizing the need to repair and repaint damaged surfaces, and it extends the service life of the structure to which it is applied by maintaining the finish of the original painted surface. Surface scratches and marring in a coating lead to damage on a macroscopic scale, resulting in the coating losing its aesthetic and protective functions.
