American Football Game Analyzer Prototype
The Edge © is a program which allows you to analyze results and potentially predict scores of professional American football games.
Using the simple interface, you load information for a completed or a future game. The system then displays an initial predicted score and point spread based on average points scored for and against by the competing teams and a comparison of 29 statistical categories.
You then create "Schemes" by selecting the statistics(such as average passing yards per game or defensive sacks) you feel are most important in predicting teams' performances.
By adjusting track-bars, differing points are allocated to the team with an advantage in that statistical category.
The system modifies, and if the game has been played, compares the predicted score and spread to the actual score and spread. Once you are satisfied that your scheme best predicts the games score, you can save your scheme and use it to predict the scores of future games.
You may also use the built-in genetic algorithm to automatically adjust point allocations and search for and save the "best" scheme found.
Note this is a prototype system. Several minor aspects are still under construction. Also, there are many design features, methods of analysis and additional statistics that could be incorporated in it. It was built to see if there is any merit or facility at all in such a program or if so, how it could be improved.
