Today I was struck by the mood of this man, sitting on one of the many benches on Whistler’s busy Village Stroll.  There were smiling crowds all around him but he just sat.  Maybe he was tired, maybe he was meditating.  Either way, he certainly didn’t look like the normal tourist.

This year I am taking part in a team race in Whistler, the famous “Peak to Valley” race:  up to 180 GS gates over a 5.6km distance.  This is my team mate Richard getting ready to race.  I’m racing on Saturday.

Once at the lake, however, the heavens opened with a hail and heavy rain downpour. Rob and I took a chance on the weather today to hike into Cheakamus Lake. It was beautifully green and damp, and at one point we were in the mist. Mist in the forest on the way to Cheakamus Lake.
