Living through Loss Counselling Society (LTLC) is offering introductory online course for individuals interested in acquiring an understanding of grief as a multi-faceted response to loss. The course is designed to provide a dynamic and interactive learning process in an online format. Structured in 6 weekly lessons, the course reflects the themes of the weekly discussions. The themes that will be covered include:

  1. Introduction to topic; Freud, Lindemann, and Bowlby
  2. Traditional and contemporary models of grief and loss; ambiguous loss
  3. Anticipatory loss; disenfranchised grief
  4. Complex bereavement, complicated grief and traumatic loss
  5. Bereavement; children and adolescents
  6. Community Grief; rituals

This is the first of a two part online course that LTLC has developed. While we offer onsite training, the online course is meant to meet the needs of individuals who cannot attend these trainings based on time and geographical constraints. Participants include counselors, therapists, social workers, teachers, crisis workers, palliative care workers, or any individual wanting to explore bereavement issues related to their clients.

The course will be facilitated by a grief and loss therapist familiar with instructing in an online environment. The course has limited enrollment.A certificate will be awarded on completion of training.
