The primary purpose for the Hydro Box Program is to provide
significant public access and involvement in the arts. The project
will also provide a positive opportunity for youth to work with
established artists to create murals for display in public outdoor
spaces. In conjunction with BC Hydro, affiliates and 3 municipalities
of the Comox Valley’s assistance, we can create a vibrant cultural
opportunity. The designs are to be of original work developed by
local artists via input from a participating youth involved
conference regarding a theme. It will be up to mentors and assisting
youth to create designs for final approval. Youths from local schools
and Youth at Risk groups will be mentored throughout the project.
These individuals will have an interest in learning about the
creative process and receive hands-on mentoring, gaining valuable
experience and a sense of accomplishment towards their community.
