Excavating and Shoring | Southwest Contracting Ltd
Excavation, shoring, Soil Mixing
Southwest Contracting was the first to combine the excavation and shoring in the lower mainland to best provide service to our clients.
The shoring of choice has been shotcrete shoring due to the dominant presence of native glacial till but different shoring techniques were developed by our experienced crews over the last 20 years to handle the full range of ground conditions. These include drilled spiles, IBO anchors, and specialty drilling, grouting and face saving measures to control caving of the shoring face. Recently, jet grouting and soil mixing has been introduced to shore water bearing ground.
Excavations of all sizes have been completed with excavators as small as bobcats to our larger EX700 machine since 1972. While larger projects such as the Vancouver Convention Center are noteworthy, the smaller projects to install shear walls within existing buildings are becoming commonplace as well as new codes for siesmic upgrading are implemented. Our 20 or so machines cover the full spectrum of excavating and shoring required in the lower mainland.
