A primary focus of Community Futures Shuswap is to provide availability to financial resources which might not otherwise be available to individuals to start and/or expand a small business within our service delivery region. Community Futures Shuswap helps businesses grow by offering financing to viable businesses or projects, where financing cannot be obtained through conventional sources.

Since 1986, Community Futures Shuswap has lent more than $18 million dollars to start or expand small businesses in the Shuswap which has in turn created nearly 2500 new jobs in our service area.

Community Futures Shuswap currently administers the following loan funds; each designed to help you in achieving success in your business.

Community Futures Investment Fund

Available to all loan applicants for business purposes, with a maximum loan amount of $150,000.

Loans greater than $150,000: Loans above $150,000 are possible with funding from other financing partners.

Youth Entrepreneur Investment Fund

Loans under this fund are for applicants under the age of 30 for any worthwhile, viable business venture.

Community Business Loan Program

Loans under this fund are for new or existing entrepreneurs engaged in the forest sector, aquaculture, manufacturing, tourism, or another prescribed sector of the economy. The maximum loan amount is $150,000.

Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Fund

Available to new or existing entrepreneurs with physical disabilities, for any worthwhile viable business venture.

Terms of Loans

Financing is available to applicants unable to obtain financing from traditional sources. Our loan interest rate is Prime plus a risk premium.  Maximum repayment is 5 years or 15 years with mortgage security. There is no prepayment penalty. Applicants should have 20 - 25% investment in the business, and provide security for the funds being borrowed. A written business plan and cash flow are required for all applications.

The Employment Wage Subsidy program offers funding to connect employers with skilled, motivated workers as well as support job seekers that are entering the workplace, by offering employers funding to share the cost of on the job work experience. Once the agreement has started, employers send in a monthly claim form with a small activity report, pay stubs, and time sheets.


Video Conferencing - Programs & Services

The applications of video conferencing are limitless and include training, meetings, announcements, and even staff recruitment; all at a fraction of the time and expense associated with sending participants to a single out of community meeting location.
