  • Comprehensive Eye Examinations
  • Your eye examination includes the following tests:

    • Measurement of your vision for distance and reading
    • Assessment of the alignment of your eyes and their ability to work together
    • Determination of the prescription you require for distance, reading, and computer (if applicable)
    • Measurement of your eye pressure
    • Complete assessment of your eye health, which includes examination for cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration, as well as any other eye diseases or conditions that may be present. Diabetics are assessed for diabetic retinopathy and other diabetes-related ocular conditions.

In order to thoroughly assess your eye health, it may be necessary to use drops to dilate your eyes during the examination. Please come prepared to have your eyes dilated, by bringing sunglasses and someone to drive you home if you feel uncomfortable driving afterwards.

At the end of your examination, you will receive a written copy of your prescription.

  • Children's Eye Examinations
  • We are able to examine children who are 6 months of age and older. Please be aware that your child does not have to be able to read letters, identify pictures or even speak in order for their eyes to be examined, as many of the tests used to examine a child's eyes and vision differ from those used with adults. In most cases, we will be able to determine if your child's vision is normal for their age, if their eyes are focusing properly and their general eye health.

  • Urgent Care
  • If you have eye irritation, redness, have had an eye injury, need something removed from your eye, have had a sudden loss of vision, or any other concern, we are able to see you on an emergency basis. Please phone and let the staff know the nature of your problem and we will fit you in the same day.

  • Visual Field Testing
  • This is a computerized test of your peripheral vision, and is only performed if required. It is most commonly used to test for glaucoma, but it can also detect vision loss due to stroke, brain tumors, and some retinal disorders. Your Optometrist will recommend this test if it is necessary.

  • Ocular Photography
  • Our cameras are able to take digital photographs of the front surface of your eyes and your retinas. The photos are used to document various findings so they can be followed and compared over time. This is performed as required.

  • Refractive Surgery Consultation and Co-Management
  • Wondering about laser refractive surgery? Once we have completed your eye examination, we can advise you whether or not your prescription and eye health make you a suitable candidate for laser surgery. If you decide to proceed with surgery, your exam results can be forwarded to the laser centre of your choice. We also provide your post-operative care at the intervals required by the laser centre.

  • Low Vision Assessment
  • Low vision is defined as visual impairment which cannot be corrected with glasses, contact lenses or surgery, and makes performing daily activities difficult or impossible. This can be due to genetic or age-related eye diseases. Often, people with low vision require additional visual aids, such as magnifiers or telescopes, in order for them to see adequately for reading and distance viewing. Dr Liang can assess your level of vision and then recommend and demonstrate visual aids appropriate for you.

  • Spectacle Dispensing
  • Eye Station optical has a large selection of modern frames and sunglasses for children and adults, in a range of prices. We only sell reputable brands of frames and lenses, so you can be assured that your glasses will be top-quality and will give you the best possible vision.

Your glasses will be made in our on-site edging lab, which means that you will usually only have to wait a few days for them to be ready. Depending on your prescription, we can also accommodate same-day rush jobs, and can insert new lenses into your own frame while you wait.

  • Contact Lens Fitting
  • Contact lenses have advanced remarkably over the past 10 years, so people of almost all ages and prescriptions can now be fit with contact lenses. Eye Station optical has four experienced Contact Lens Fitters who can fit you with any type of lens that you require. We have access to all brands of contact lenses available on the market, so you can be assured that you will receive the best lenses for your prescription and your eye health.
