The Archivematica project is integrating a number of open source tools to create a comprehensive digital preservation system that is compliant with the ISO-OAIS standard and other digital preservation standards and best practices. Using an agile development methodology, the system is being designed and tested as an integrated whole of technology, people and procedures.
In collaboration with UNESCO Memory of the World and a number of implementation partners, Artefactual Systems is developing Archivematica to provide the archival community with cost-effective, practical, and standards-compliant tools to begin preserving digital information today.
Archivematica can be used in prototype and pilot project environments as a first stage in the implementation of a digital preservation strategy. It can also be integrated and customized into your organization's technical infrastructure as a production-ready digital archives system.
