In my line of work I find myself turning to the City regularly to find information on properties that are being bought and sold. For a small city, Nanaimo has a great website, a fantastic map tool and tonnes of really helpful people willing to answer all your questions.
I am all for being able to do just about everything from my laptop and phone but I still really appreciate being able to go in and talk to someone face to face when I have a question. I go downtown to talk to the super knowledgeable people at the City on a regular basis. I go to get clarification on covenants, bylaw contraventions and rights of way they might have registered on a property, zoning inquiries, details on leaking condos under repair… it’s amazing what you can learn down on Wallace Street if you just go in and ask.
I like to know everything I can about a property that I am selling and for my clients to know as much as possible when making the decision to purchase a home – City Hall and the RDN are fantastic resources that make getting informed a breeze.
PS. All the photos in this post came from the City of Nanaimo website – they have a great gallery!
