We find that people will use our services or part of our services for a while and then when they get back on their feet we can step back. We’re there when you need us and we back away when we are sure that you are safe and secure. We want to support your independence….so our door is always open but we won’t infringe on your privacy.

Here are some of the ways we can help you:

Correspondence
We will keep your friends and family up to date at your request.

Estate Planning
We arrange for preparation of your Will, Power of Attorney and Representation Agreement and assist in ensuring that your Estate is in order.

A “Will” is a document which declares how you wish your property to be disposed of on your death.

A "Power of Attorney" is a document which allows you to appoint someone you choose and trust to make financial and legal decisions on your behalf.  The person you appoint has the ability to pay bills, deal with income tax or sell property on your behalf.  They cannot use the Power of Attorney to transfer any of your assets to themselves.  An enduring Power of Attorney is a Power of Attorney document that can be used even after you are no longer capable of providing instructions.  A Power of Attorney does not deal with matters of "self" (i.e. the ability to make medical decisions, etc).

A “Representation Agreement” is document which allows you to appoint someone you choose and trust to make health or personal care decisions on your behalf.  The person you appoint must work with your wishes and beliefs and try to ensure that they are making medical and personal health care decisions for you based on what they believe you would want.

A “Health Care Directive”, based on current legislation, is a direction to your Representative (under a Representation Agreement), your family, friends and health care providers, as to what your wishes are for your health care.  A Representation Agreement appoints someone to carry out your wishes for you, but they need to know what your wishes are.  A Health Care Directive is one way of setting out those wishes.

Financial management
We work with your existing bank, financial advisor and accountant to ensure that your bills are paid, your banking is done, your investments are looked after and your income tax return is filed on time.  We can also assist you in applying for benefits you might be entitled to.

Health Care Advocacy
We find that people who have to fend for themselves, especially when they are ill or in crisis, can fall between the cracks in our overworked system. We can set up and co-ordinate your medical appointments, including care assessments.  We can make arrangements for transportation to and from your appointments if you are unable to drive.

If you have trouble hearing or communicating with the Doctor, we can send a companion with you to record what is said.  If you become ill, we are your voice to ensure that your personalized health care instructions are honored and your wishes followed.

Home Security, Repairs and Maintenance

We can arrange for your home to be checked during your absence to keep your insurance valid.  We can arrange for a handyman for small home maintenance jobs, including mowing the lawn.  If you need help with housekeeping, we can arrange for qualified and bonded people to help you.

Personal Assistance
We find our clients really appreciate having someone to do errands, pick up groceries or to just keep them company. If you need assistance with anything from bathing to meal preparation, we can arrange that for you.  If you need new clothes, but cannot or do not like going out to shop, our personal shopper can do the shopping for you.

Pet Care
We can arrange in home care for your pets and we can find temporary homes for your pets if you are away or in hospital.

Pre-arranged memorial services
We encourage and assist with making plans for memorial services.

Relocation
If or when relocation becomes necessary, we research and assist with care arrangements, arrange for appraisals and sale of property, transfer and/or cancel utility, phone, or other services, re-direct your mail and arrange for shipment of family treasures as may be needed.  We also arrange for a senior-friendly relocation company to pack, sort and move you into your new home.  We make all the arrangements on your behalf to ensure a seamless transition.
