What are the Original Hose Toppers?
The Original Hose Toppers are knitted cuffs that are simply slid up the leg to the top of the hose to add a unique and distinctive look to any kilt outfit.
Where did they come from ?
This particular design was conceived and designed by Mike Cawthra of Langley, BC. Kilt hose with fancy cuffs have been around for many, many years. There are other garments called “hose tops” that are basically a sock with no foot. The Original Hose Toppers came about as a more economical way to achieve the dressy look of other options.
How are they made?
Each pair of Original Hose Toppers is hand knit using a yarn that is 80% acrylic, 20% wool.
YOU can design your own pair or have a pair made from one of our patterns. With over 21 colours to choose from, we can match most tartans or solid colour kilts or you can choose to go with a contrasting pattern. The choice is yours.
Why should I buy Original Hose Toppers?
Fancy cuff hose, diced hose or argyle hose can be rather expensive, from $100 to $200 a pair. If you own one pair of neutral hose, for example oatmeal or grey, you can have a pair of Original Hose Toppers to match each of your kilts.
Let's do some math. If you own four kilts and were to buy four pair of argyle hose to match at an average price of $135, you would spend $540.
If you were to buy one pair of oatmeal hose and four pair of Original Hose Toppers you would save over $400!
