Many resort based commercial projects feature either log or heavy timber.  We have provided log and heavy timber for residential subdivisions, hotels and condominiums.  As part of these projects, we have built log and timber recreational structures, bridges and signs.  Most of these structures have been highly complex hybrid structures, that combine conventional framing with log and timber building techniques.  We embrace the challenge presented through the increased scale and complexity of commecial log and timber projects.

Current Projects

Following the show, we will ship this Log Post and Beam home to Nordegg, AB, where we will install the pre-fabricated wall panels. Through careful coordination with our client in Ontario, Tyee designed this 2 storey handcrafted scribe fit log home. Tyee Log and Timber will create complete architectural and Timber Frame shop drawings for this project. This 2 storey walkout features large Cedar character logs with prominent flared ends.

Timber Frame Hybrid

We ensure that coordination is done so that the interface is clean and the timber or log looks like it "fits" in the structure, not that it is an after thought. Designs incorporate timber or log elements for great rooms, entryways, gable accents, balconies, stairs, railings and mantles. Careful coordination between the framing crews, pre-fabricated truss supplier and finishing crews needs to be done.

Handcrafted Log Homes

We incorporate the "overscribed" method of building in each of our homes, incorporate screw jacks to all vertical posts, slab flat any logs that tie into conventional framing and cut slots and keyways for interior walls and openings. Our handcrafted log homes feature large diameter logs where no two pieces are similar to create a square and true structure.

Post and Beam Homes

Between the log structure conventional framing panels are installed and finished with drywall on the interior and wood siding, hardi-board, stucco, brick or rock on the exterior. The logs are the structural "skeleton" of the home and unlike timber frame homes the structure is visible both inside and outside the home. Log Post and Beam Structures offer the look and feel of log homes, while enabling a wider range of design options.

Timber Frame Homes

After your frame is raised by our crews, structural insulated panels or pre-fabricated walls and conventional roof framing are installed around the frame. At Tyee Log & Timber, we construct a virtual model of the home, prior to fabrication so that the owner knows what the final structure will look like. Tyee Log & Timber specializes in providing shop drawings of the pre-fabricated wall panels & can provide SIP's upon request.
