Lead is a highly toxic substance used in paint products until 1978. Exposure to lead dust can affect brain functions, fertility, joint problems, and cause irritability.
Buildings constructed prior to 1960 will probably have lead based paint in them. New constructions from 1960 to present are less likely to have any lead products in them. If the paint is intact then there are no concerns however, once delaminating occurs it creates a hazard.
Environmental consultants can be retained to test your property for lead contamination through air samples and paint scrapings. Our staff is fully trained and equipped to deal with any size lead abatement project.
