Though at times we look for outside sources to guide us, somewhere within ourselves we know that we must slow down and listen to our own body, our own inner voice.
Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy is a guided body-oriented process that is psycho-emotionally therapeutic. By combining dialogue techniques with therapuetic yoga techniques, PRYT facilitates a deeper state of self-awareness. When clients are reconnected to their own inner wisdom they are empowered to identify strengths and abilities to enhance their own wellbeing.
The Phoenix Rising approach to yoga therapy operates under the belief that your body contains a wealth of inner resources that can move you toward wholeness and a deeper connection to life. At the same time, your body holds ”memories” of all your challenging and distressing life experiences. Your body often expresses these experiences as muscular or nervous tension, aches/pains, limiting habits or lifestyle diseases.
Phoenix Rising is appropriate for anyone wanting a guided process for self-healing and pyscho-spiritual growth that combines the body, mind and heart in a non-medical setting. Yoga therapy is beneficial for a wide variety of physical and emotional symptoms as well as day-to-day situations, including:
- Healing from traumatic experiences
- Feeling down or depressed
- Coping with life transitions (divorce, break-ups, new job, pregnancy, parenting etc.)
- Suffering from the effects of stress
- Feeling anxious and overwhelmed
- Lacking a sense of meaning and purpose
A Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy session begins by sharing what brings you to seek guided support for self-healing and self-discovery. By spending some time exploring what is important to you, a focus or intention for the session can develop.
Once you have expressed what you’d like to explore, you are guided in becoming consciously aware of what’s happening in your body and mind (sensations, emotions, thoughts, memories, images) so that you can witness and gain greater clarity about what’s happening in your life. Practitioner-supported yoga postures, organic movement, mindfulness and imagery is used in combination with simple dialogue techniques to encourage direct experience and expression of sensation, thoughts and feelings.
The opportunity to notice what’s happening inside you can increase your understanding of what is behind the issues expressed in the body. It also allows for the release of emotional and physical tension and the discovery of positive qualities and strengths. Toward the end of the session a guided integration allows you to consider practical ways to ground your experience in daily life.
By unwinding limiting body-mind patterns you’ll uncover inner resources to create healthy vitality and positive change.
