CYMC Musical Theatre | Archive for Behind the Scenes

We’re thrilled to announce that Josiah George will be joining our 2011 faculty as Production Manager and Assistant to the Music Director.  Josiah has been at CYMC as a student for the past 5 years and we think he’ll make an exceptional addition to our faculty.  He took some time to answer our alumni questionnaire…

Years attended…

.5- (Guys and Dolls ’06, Jekyll and Hyde ’07, Beauty and the Beast ’08, Rent ’09, Sweeney Todd ’10)

Fave CYMC memory:
The workshop with Broadway Star Julia Murney, to actually get 1-on-1 attention with someone who as played Elphaba at the Gershwin Theater was simply out of this world! Oh…and playing Lefou alongside Jordan Heath.

What are you doing now?

Well as of right now I am the  Production Manager and Assistant Musical Director of CYMC’s 2011 production of A Chorus Line and CYMC Glee Club! I also just finished my second year at the Canadian College of Performing Arts, which is basically like an 8 month long CYMC.

Advice to new CYMCers:

Don’t worry about stress, remember that you’ll have over 30 people around you ready to pick you up if you fall down. Above all, just have fun, you will be putting on an amazing show, working with amazing people, and making amazing friends.

Favorite CYMC memory: My favourite memory has got to be preview night of Sweeney Todd when Adam Kozlick and I were in the middle of a very intense scene and all of a sudden this siren goes off. I have just graduated my first year at the Canadian College of Performing Arts located in Victoria BC and will be going into second year in September.
