Services are available to teach skills such as communication, self-help, socialization, academic, and play. Behaviour consultation is also available to reduce inappropriate behaviour such as aggression or self-injurious behaviour.
A behaviour consultant works with families to develop a plan that will meet the needs of both the individual, as well as the rest of the family unit. Through assessment, observation, and interview information will be gathered to create an individualized program to work with the individual in all relevant environments to reach their full learning potential. The client’s individualized program will outline goals, a schedule, staffing requirements, settings, parent or other caregiver involvement, and a timeline to work within.
